Fungal Extension Proposals (FEPs)
The core of FEDS never defines biological interpretation.
Meaning is fluid; physics is not.
All semantics live in extensions, not the core specification.
Purpose
Extensions allow the standard to evolve over time without destabilizing the core.
Extensions may overlap or conflict. This is intentional.
Current Extension Tracks (Non-Normative)
The following represent ideas for future community exploration, not endorsements or active working groups.
- FEP-01 — Stimulus Coding
- FEP-02 — Species Metadata
- FEP-03 — Multi-Electrode Array (MEA) Geometries
How to Propose an Extension (Proposed)
- Draft a Fungal Extension Proposal (FEP) describing the semantics and file changes.
- Discuss the proposal with researchers from at least two independent labs.
- Submit the proposal for public review once the specification repository is available.
No single lab should control semantic meaning.
All proposals should be reviewed publicly.
Governance
An extension governance log will be published with the public specification repository.
