FEDS
Fungal Electrophysiology Data Structure

Fungal Electrophysiology Data Structure
FEDS is a simple, non-opinionated standard for storing and sharing raw fungal electrical recordings. It focuses on the physics of the measurement—time and voltage—rather than the interpretation of the biology.
The on-disk layout follows conventions popularized by the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS): human-readable metadata files, tab-separated tables, and a predictable directory hierarchy adapted for fungal electrophysiology time series.
Get Started in 3 Steps
- Validate: Check whether your data already fits the standard using the FEDS Validator.
- Convert: Use a lightweight Python workflow to map raw data into FEDS files.
- Format: Organize files according to the FEDS structure.
Why FEDS?
- Future-Proof: Metadata stored in plain-text JSON/TSV.
- Minimal Friction: Scriptable in an afternoon.
- Interpretation Neutral: The standard captures the signal, not biological meaning.
